No. 11 - Song - Marquis

MIDI File

Marquis: A Governor truculent, cruel and sly,
A man of remarkable pow'r am I,
All others in awe stand aside when I'm by,
And never once venture my will to deny.
Chorus: No, we don't ever venture to try.
Marquis: I'm quite independent, I do as I please,
A glance from me throws ev'ry one on his knees,
My manner's so cold that it causes a breeze,
So chilly, the hinges of Hades would freeze.
Chorus: Yes! Yes! Yes!
His manner's so cold that it causes a breeze,
So chilly, the hinges of Hades would freeze.
So chilly, in fact, we feel tempted to sneeze.
(sneeze) (sneeze) (sneeze)

Marquis: Some boast of their power to such a degree,
You know it's not natural, that's easy to see,
My case is as diff'rent as diff'rent can be,
For ruling comes perfectly natural to me.
Chorus: Ev'ry inch of a ruler is he.
Marquis: ] I started to rule from the day of my birth,
And order'd my nurse girl for all I was worth;
Of power so great there's a powerful dearth.
Some say when a baby I cried for the earth.
Chorus: Yes! Yes! Yes!
He started to rule from the day of his birth,
And order'd his nurse girl for all he was worth.
Such wondrous precocity fills us with mirth.
Ah! Ha! Ha! Ah! Ha! Ha!
Girls (tittering): Tz-z-z-z-z.
Men: Ha!
