No. 15 - Song - Rob Roy and Chorus

MIDI File

Rob Roy: Come, lairds o' the Highland and lads o' the clan,
Give ear to the song that I sing;
There's mickle good liquor in pipkin and pan
To drink to the health of a King!
Chorus: The King!
Rob Roy: So when ye have powed out a cup to its fill;
Unless ye be dotard auld carles,
The toast that I give ye ye'll drink with a will:
Here's a health to our bonnie Prince Charles!
Then fill up a bowl to the brim, lads,
And toss ye it off like a man;
Chorus: A toast!
Rob Roy: Bad luck to the churl who is never inclined
To drinking and clinking the can, lads!
Chorus: We drink to the toast that ye give us,
For we are no dotard auld carles.
Rob Roy: Let tankards cling as we blithely sing,
A varra good health to a verra good King!
Ho! here's to our bonnie Prince Charles!
Chorus: Ho! here's to our bonnie Prince Charles!

Rob Roy: Our Charlie has never a crown or a throne;
Yet his is the name that I sing;
And soon our braw laddie shall come to his own;
A Stuart again shall be King.
Chorus: The King!
Rob Roy: We'll soon have no more of cruel bullet and steel;
No more of war's tangles and snarls;
Ay, peace it shall dwell in the land o' the leal,
And of love for our bonnie Prince Charles!
Then fill up a bowl to the brim, lads,
And toss ye it off like a man;
Chorus: A toast!
