No. 7 - Song - Montagu and Girls - "To-Night's the Night."

MIDI File

Montagu: I never had such a rotten time in all my blessed life
As when I went up to spend a day in London with my wife.
She said she knew the very spot to pass a happy hour,
So we spent a rollicking morning in the dungeons of the Tower;
And when they let us out again I still was feeling glum,
So she trotted me off to see the tombs at the British Museum.
Then next we went to Battersea to try and buy a dog,
And coming back in the omnibus it bit me in —  the fog,
But, oh, today! My wife has gone away! So!
Take me up to Town, girls,
Take me on the spree,
Take me out to supper,
Take me out to tea;
Trot me round almost ev'rywhere —
Now don't forget that To-Night's the night,
And we'll all be there!
Girls: Take me up to Town, girls,
Take me on the spree,
Take me out to supper,
Take me out to tea;
Trot me round almost ev'rywhere —
Now don't forget that To-Night's the night,
And we'll all be there!

Montagu: Then wifie said, "Dear, you want a meal —  you're looking rather pale!"
So she stood me a whole banana and a glass of ginger ale!
That cheered me up, and I said, "Now I'm game for any lark,"
So we played at Puss in the Corner with the keepers in the Park.
I thought that then she'd like a rest, but she was not content
Till she'd pushed me up three hundred stairs to the top of the Monument,
Then off to the National Gallery to study modern art.
But she covered my face with a handkerchief at the most exciting part.
But, oh, today! My wife has gone away! So!
Take me up to Town, girls,
Take me on the spree,
Take me to the Empire,
Or the Gaitee;
Trot me round old Trafalgar Square —
Now don't forget that To-Night's the night,
And we'll all be there!
Girls: Take me up to Town, girls,
Take me on the spree,
Take me to the Empire,
Or the Gaitee;
Trot me round old Trafalgar Square —
Now don't forget that To-Night's the night,
And we'll all be there!
