No. 3 - Song - Major and Chorus

MIDI File

Major: A major I, and a D. S. O.
Who has faced the foe (as you doubtless know)
And a very few "quid" for a lot of "quo"
Is all a Major's pay.
But care's a bubble and life's a toy,
With health o' the best an' the heart of a boy,
And the world's a merry-go-round of joy
To a major who's always gay.
Chorus: And the world's a merry-go-round of joy
To the major who's always gay.
Major: For the Major's the pet of the ladies!
Of the Maudies an' the Sadies;
Whoever the dear little maid is
I'm ever at Cupid's call!
I love ev'ry name and I'm good at the game
And the Major's the man for all.
Chorus: For the major's the pet of the ladies!
Of the Maudies an' the Sadies;
Whoever the dear little maid is
He's ever at Cupid's call.
He loves ev'ry name and he's good at the game,
And the Major's the man for all!

Major: I've a rollickin' air, an' a rovin' eye--
The reason why (as I saunter by)
That all the darlin's look and sigh,
To own the Major's sway.
I take the pas o' the pick of the Clubs.
I get the runnin' and they the rubs
And jaunty Johnnies and sidey Subs
Clear out of the Major's way.
Chorus: For the jaunty Johnnies and sidey Subs
Clear out of the Major's way.
Major: For I'm such a dog with the ladies!
With your Maries and Mercedes,
I've Haidees, San Toys and Zobeides
All over this earthly ball!
And it's loudly confess'd from the East to the West
That the Major's the man for all.
Chorus: For he's such a dog with the ladies!
With your Maries and Mercedes,
He's Haidees, San Toys and Zobeides
All over this earthly ball.
And it's loudly confess'd from the East to the West
That the Major's the man for all!

Major: I've never been known to meet with "nay";
I've a takin' way (an' a tender say);
With gay grass widows I make my hay
(0h, I'm the man for them!)
An' it's "Major" here an' it's "Major" there,
While swains all fume and husbands swear,
You can back the Major devil-may-care,
To flutter the tents of Shem.
Chorus: You can back the Major devil-may-care,
To flutter the tents of Shem.
Major: Oh, I've got such a way with the ladies!
Whatever their grade is,
Wherever the pretty parade is
The major is sure to call!
And he'd like to annex just the whole of the Sex,
For the Major's the man for all.
Chorus: Oh! he's got such a way with the ladies!
Whatever their grade is,
Wherever the pretty parade is
The Major is sure to call.
And he'd like to annex just the whole of the Sex,
For the Major's the man for all!
