No. 9 - Song - Leroy and Chorus

MIDI File

Leroy: Little girl goes out all day
On her little own.
When she comes back she will say,
She's been quite alone.
Five o'clock and six has passed,
Nobody she's met.
All day it's been raining fast,
But her shoes aren't wet,
Still there's nothing wrong,
"Shopping" all day long.
Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping,
Till the whole of the street she's got.
Then young man stopping,
Saves a parcel dropping.
Oh, shopping covers a lot!
Chorus: Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping,
Till the whole of the street she's got.
Then young man stopping,
Saves a parcel dropping.
Oh, shopping covers a lot!

Leroy: Later on the time will come,
Hubby wants a spree,
Like a little top he'll hum,
Over to Paree.
He returns long after her,
Wifie rather sore,
Business takes you far away,
Farther than before,
Still he has no fear,
He says "Oh, my dear, (spoken) I've been
Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping."
But never a thing he's got,
He's fearfully cut up,
For all the shops were shut up,
Oh, shopping saves you a lot!
Chorus: Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping,
But never a thing he's got,
He's fearfully cut up,
For all the shops were shut up,
Oh, shopping covers a lot!

Leroy: Later on a day will come,
Both will be found out.
You've got lots of friends and some
Guess what it's about.
Evening papers make a scene,
"Scandal in high life,
Most amusing case between
Husband and a wife,"
Counsel most intense,
Argue in defence,
Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping,
(But the jury some sense have got),
You get off lightly,
Thanks to William Whiteley,
Oh, Whiteley saves you a lot.
Chorus: Shopping, shopping,
In and out been popping,
(But the jury some sense have got),
You get off lightly,
Thanks to William Whiteley,
Oh, Whiteley saves you a lot.
