No. 18 - Duet - Diana and Pope - "If a nice little girl said that to you."

MIDI File

Pope: I fear I've been a bit of a fool,
Though as a rule, I'm pretty cool.
I lost my head completely.
That seems perfectly plain.
Diana: I must admit you were rather dense.
Now you commence showing some sense,
Suppose I murmur sweetly,
"Please don't do it again!"
If a nice little girl said that to you,
What would you do?
What would you say?
Would you murmur, "Well, good day!"
And discreetly walk away?
Or, d'you think you would sit and wait a bit,
List'ning to her advice?
Pope: Well, it all depends on whether the girl
Was really nice!

Diana: It seems to me you're still a bit vexed,
I'm quite perplexed what to do next.
One never knows precisely
Where this sort of thing ends.
Pope: The real solution happens to be
Like A. B. C., if you'll agree.
Suppose I ask you nicely,
"Won't you kiss and be friends?"
If a nice sort of man said that to you,
What would you do?
What would you say?
Would you blush in sad dismay?
Would you turn your head away?
Or, d'you think you'd be kind, and wouldn't mind
Kissing him once or twice?
Diana: Well, it all depends on whether the man
Was really nice!

Both: Well, it all depends on whether the man
Was really nice!
