No. 7 - Song - Rosalie - "I've come along to Paris."

MIDI File

Rosalie: I'm a country lass, you know,
Fresh to all the streets and houses;
Father has to plough and sow,
Mother minds the pigs and cowses!
Life upon a farm's no fun,
Only worry and vexation;
Ev'ry girl to town should run,
Just to get a situation!
Well, I told my mother so,
And she answer'd "Off you go!"
So I've come along to Paris for a change!
Isn't it strange?
Awfully strange!
Country people are so foolish,
And they're much too Sunday-schoolish,
So I've come along to Paris for a change!

  Down to home it's work all day,
Early in the morn they're starting!
What's a girl to do, I say,
When she wants to go sweet-hearting?
Joseph is my young man's name,
Now and then he talks quite pleasant;
But a girl is not to blame
If she likes to get a present.
Oh! it puts a lassie out
When her lover brings her nowt!
So I thought I'd come to Paris for a change!
Isn't it strange!
Awfully strange!
Joseph's pockets aren't of cash full,
And he's really much too bashful,
So I've come along to Paris for a change!
