No. 7 - Song - Hélène - "Love among the daisies."

MIDI File

Hélène: Love, they say, grew tired of town,
Vanish'd was his old renown;
Wooers false and ladies gay
Turned him from their doors away.
"Now," quoth he, "'tis time to change,
To the countryside I'll go,
Over hill and dale I'll range,
Where the simple daisies grow!"
Love, Love, Love among the daisies
Sadly went his way.
And as he stray'd he met a maid,
Who said "Young sir, good-day--
If you be Love, as I think you be,
You're sure of a welcome warm from me;
So come and make your home," said she,
"In the heart of a country maiden."
