No. 24 - Extra Song - Hélène and Chorus

MIDI File

Hélène: On a sea-girt cliff grew a budding rose,
And oh! she was fair to see,
And lovers two there came to woo,
The breeze and the bumble-bee,
The breeze and the bumble-bee,
She laughed at the breeze's ardent plea
Though he wooed her the whole day long,
But straight to her heart flew the bumble-bee,
As he sang her this tender song.
Wild Rose, little wild Rose,
You're the world to me,
Tho' you reign serenely,
Fair and queenly,
I'm but a humble bumble-bee,
Wild Rose, little wild Rose,
All through my life I shall love you
Dearly, sincerely,
my own little Rose.

Then the jealous breeze drew an angry breath,
And he cried "You are false to me!"
And a blast he blew till her petals flew
Over the tossing sea,
Over the tossing sea,
And the bee flew out o'er the tossing main
Where the waves her petals bore,
But he ne'er came back to the cliff again
Where he sang his song of yore.
Wild Rose, little wild Rose,
You're the world to me,
Tho' you reign serenely,
Fair and queenly,
I'm but a humble bumble-bee,
Wild Rose, little wild Rose,
All through my life I shall love you
Dearly, sincerely,
my own little Rose.
(Soloist sings Ah! while chorus hums...) Mmm
Chorus: Dearly, sincerely, my own little Rose.
My own little Rose, my own little Rose.
