Edith: I was a lofty lady,
Looking on joy as shady,
Which was a view not very new,
Seventeen hundred A. D.
Now I intend to wake up,
Giving myself a shake up,
Join in the race, forcing the pace —
I have a lot to make up.
Quartet: For we are going to have a good time,
We'll think that fun isn't always a crime,
The pure and pious may vilify us,
and say we go too far,
But we are going to have a good time,
We are!

Saidie: I'm a United Stater,
So my ideas are later,
Tho' I've a mind highly refined,
Nobody's up-to-dater.
I can be gay and sprightly,
Daily and also nightly,
Make little bets, try cigarettes,
Well, I should think so — slightly!
Quartet: For we are going to have a good time,
The prospect strikes us as simply sublime!
We'll get up dinners and back the winners,
and ride a motor car,
For we are going to have a good time,
We are!
