Additional song - Tanaka and Geisha - "The Singing maid."

MIDI File

Tanaka: This girl O Hana San
Is causing a great sensation.
[1st Geisha:] I notice that ev'ry man
Is loud in his admiration.
2nd Geisha: She sings all right,
But is she quite
As wonderful as they tell us?
Tanaka: You'll pardon me
But I can see,
The truth of it is, you're jealous.
1st Geisha: For miles around it's just the same,
We're sick of hearing O Hana's name,
So really I don't think we're to blame
In feeling a wee bit jealous.
All: O Hana San, O Hana San!
The wonderful singing maid,
There isn't a girl in all Japan
Who so interferes with trade.
Men say to you when passing through,
"Hullo little geisha, how d'ye do!"
Then ere you've fluttered a careless fan,
They're off to hear O Hana San!

Tanaka: I understand, it's true,
You're feeling a bit dejected;
It's hard upon girls like you
To find that you're quite neglected.
1st Geisha: By simple grace
Of form and face
We're bound to attract attention;
2nd Geisha: Men don't discuss O Hana thus,
It's only her voice they mention.
Tanaka: I've heard some sentimental males
Describe her voice until language fails,
And murmuring brooks and nightingales
Are some of the things they mention.
All: O Hana San, O Hana San!
The wonderful singing maid,
There isn't a girl in all Japan
Who so interferes with trade.
Men say to you when passing through,
"Hullo little geisha, how d'ye do!"
Then ere you've fluttered a careless fan,
They're off to hear O Hana San!
