No. 3 - Trio - Edna, Hilda and Ada - "Three Little Maids"

MIDI File

Trio: When the season's over,
And you want a holiday
'Mong the corn and clover,
Won't you come along this way?
Fresh-made butter, sweetest milk,
Lazy cows with coats of silk—
Still, if you should find the scene
A bit monotonous,
Understand, please, what we mean,
But— "there is always us."
We're three little maids,
Just three little maids,
Fresh from the grass
And the glens and the glades;
And there's not a bad word
That has ever been heard
Against one of us three little maids!

  We've not been to London,
So, of course, we want to know;
What has ev'ryone done?
Are the 'buses just as slow?
Is St. Paul's Cathedral there?
And is there still Trafalgar Square?
Ignorance, they say, is bliss,
But we don't find it so.
Have you ever met a "miss"
Who didn't want to know?
We're three little maids,
Just three little maids,
Fresh from the grass
And the glens and the glades;
And there's not a bad word
That has ever been heard
Against one of us three little maids!
