No. 15 - Song - Ada - "Men."

MIDI File

Ada: You men are a terrible bore,
Why were you ever invented?
They ought to have stopped you before,
Your stupidity's unprecedented.
How did you come to exist?
Were you meant as an up-to-date toy?
I assure you, you'd not have been missed
If you'd only been drowned when a boy!
Men, men, humbugging men!
You're impossible nine out of ten;
Ev'ry day we put up with you,
Dine out, or sup with you,
Don't we just spoil you, you men!

You men are impossible things,
You seem to expect such a lot;
You give us some bracelets or rings,
And you think you've done, goodness knows what!
You're annoyed if we send them all back,
You're upset if we give them away;
You seem to lose sight of the fact
You were only invented, to pay!
Men, men, humbugging men!
You're impossible nine out of ten;
We go even so far as
Accepting tiaras,
Oh! don't we just spoil you, you men!

You men are an ignorant crew,
That accounts for your gorgeous conceit,
There are only three things you can do,
You can smoke, you can drink, you can eat!
You flirt with a girl for a year,
Without any intention to woo,
Then at last you say "Marry me, dear?"
'Cause you think it's the right thing to do.
Men, men, humbugging men!
You're impossible nine out of ten;
We buy hats to appease you,
New frocks, just to please you,
Oh! don't we just spoil you, you men!

You men are impossible fools,
Tho' you think that you're wonderfully deep;
You make most ridiculous rules
Which you only expect us to keep!
You pretend to play Bridge half the night,
And you say that you work all day long,
Yet you think it a positive slight
If we want to do something wrong!
Men, men, humbugging men!
You're impossible nine out of ten;
You are hopelessly mad things,
And still you're not bad things,
We do rather like you, you men!
