No. 18 - Trio - Edna, Hilda and Ada - "Tea and Cake Walk."

MIDI File

Trio: We are little tea girls, as you see;
You will never see such girls as we,
Always daintily arrayed,
Of our work we're not afraid,
Each of us the "best hand-maid"
"Made" to "hand" round tea!
Oh, the Cake walk, and the tea walk
Are the only walks that we walk.
No relation to the coon,
Tho' "saucerly" we treat the "spoon,"
For it's only just a "fake walk,"
In our lovely hot tea cake walk,
And the more you "walk into" the cake,
The more we have to walk!

If your tea should be a trifle wrong,
That's because you let it stand too long.
If you talk and "leave your tea,"
"Tea-leaves" rather sour will be;
Into such hot water we
Get, when it's too strong!
Oh, the Cake walk, and the tea walk
Are the only walks that we walk.
No relation to the coon,
Tho' "saucerly" we treat the "spoon,"
For it's only just a "fake walk,"
In our lovely hot tea cake walk,
And the more you "walk into" the cake,
The more we have to walk!

If you come to see us, you will find
Ev'ry word we say is always kind;
Tho' we have to "wait" till late,
We don't mind, we beg to state,
When we've done it's such a "wait"
Taken off our "mind"!
Oh, the Cake walk, and the tea walk
Are the only walks that we walk.
No relation to the coon,
Tho' "saucerly" we treat the "spoon,"
For it's only just a "fake walk,"
In our lovely hot tea cake walk,
And the more you "walk into" the cake,
The more we have to walk!
