No. 19 - Sextet - "Suppose we have a breakdown."

MIDI File

All: You pull at a lever or press a knob
And the wheels begin to hum,
You notice a kind of a sort of throb,
And smell petroleum.
The wind and the dust in your faces will blow
But you'll have to sit tight, and smile,
And soon you'll arrive where you wanted to go
If you don't come to grief meanwhile!
Oh! dear, oh! dear, oh! dear!
We shouldn't like that, we fear!
Suppose we have a breakdown,
Suppose we leave the road,
Collide or pitch right into a ditch,
And all of a sudden explode,
Our names and our addresses too
Policemen then will take down,
Our limbs may all be black and blue,
And each will have an ache down,
Wherever we are passing through,
We'll try to get a Shakedown,
Oh, what a fuss for all of us,
Suppose we have a breakdown.

We may be upset in some lonely spot,
And obliged to tramp for miles
All over the fields and across a lot
Of extremely awkward stiles.
It would be unpleasant it can't be denied,
Should a shower of rain begin.
Our clothes would all have to be thoroughly dried
When we came to a country inn.
Oh! dear, oh! dear, oh! dear!
Our clothes will be spoilt, we fear!
Suppose we have a breakdown,
Suppose we leave the road,
Collide or pitch right into a ditch,
And all of a sudden explode,
Our names and our addresses too
Policemen then will take down,
Our limbs may all be black and blue,
And each will have an ache down,
Wherever we are passing through,
We'll try to get a Shakedown,
Oh, what a fuss for all of us,
Suppose we have a breakdown.
