Welcome to the Gilbert and Sullivan Archive, which is devoted to the operas and other works of  W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. It was established at Boise State University in 1993 and moved to its present home in 2016.

The buttons on the left will take you to the resources we have relating to the fourteen operas on which Gilbert and Sullivan collaborated. As well as collaborating on the operas, both Gilbert and Sullivan produced work independently, and the buttons above lead to the resources relating to those works such as librettos, scores, contemporary reviews, MIDI files and production pictures.

Richard D'Oyly Carte was the impressario who turned Gilbert and Sullivan into big business, and the D'Oyly Carte button leads to information about his family, the opera company he founded and the Savoy Theatre which he built to produce them.

There are also pages devoted to the Curtain Raisers which were performed along side the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas and other operas produced at the Savoy Theatre in the 1890s.

As supplements to the Gilbert and Sullivan Archive there is a section devoted to British Musical Theatre and American Musical Theatre of the 19th and early 20th centuries. We have also incorporated David Trutt's Haddon Hall site.

This is the "home" site for all Gilbert and Sullivan related activities on the Internet. Links from the Archive lead to many other G&S sites, and to other opera and arts related Internet sites. Please let us know if there are any other sites you think we should link to.

If you have any questions about Gilbert and Sullivan and their operas, you may contact David Stone at dstone4@cox.net.

If you have something which you feel would be appropriate to add to the Archive, look at our FAQs page for licensing, and other useful information.
