The Gilbert and Sullivan Newsletter Archive

GILBERTIAN GOSSIP

No 1 -- 1975     Edited by Michael Walters

EDITORIAL

This is the first of what may possibly prove to be a series, depending on its reception by those for whom it is intended. It has been conceived as an extension of the voluminous and varied G&S correspondence which I have been carrying on for some years now, and will cover all fields of G&S and related matters, but particularly those not covered by the official publications: - The G&S Journal and the Savoyard, and by the other less official magazines, GASBAG, the late lamented JACK POINT PRESS, TITIPU TOWN CRIER and others. Far be it from me to poach on Blackwell's Preserves! Since this is not a publication (and I stress this point), it will not of course be charged for, but as the costs of copying, duplication and postage will be considerable, contributions to help towards the cost of same would be gratefully received. I should stress, however, that this would in no sense be considered a necessary qualification for receipt of the newsletter; I shall be happy to send it to anyone who wishes to have it. Articles, comments and items of news will be welcome; also the names of any other potential recipients. Please let me know what you think of the first effort.

MICHAEL WALTERS, Editor.
