CHATFIELD BRASS BAND FREE MUSIC LENDING LIBRARY Sarah Cole spent the month of July "vacationing" at the Chatfield Brass Band Free Music Lending Library in Chatfield, MN, helping to file music and produce their newsletter. The Library is the only known free music lending library in the world today, with a collection of tens of thousands of band and orchestra scores, music magazines, choral pieces, and sheet music (not to mention a substantial number of G&S melodies arranged for band and orches- tra -- S/A has a little list of them). As a matter of fact, the library has a bigger collection of some composers' works than the Library of Congress; but, unlike that library, survives purely on donations. For more information on the Chatfield Brass Band Free Music Lending Library and its services, write to its president James Perkins, at 81 Library Lane, Chatfield, MN 55923.
