Alfred Atkins (1921-22)

Alfred William Atkins toured for a season as a baritone chorister with D’Oyly Carte’s "New" Company (1921-22).

Originally a bank clerk, he also toured in Chu Chin Chow. He continued his stage career after leaving the D’Oyly Carte, appearing regularly on the London Stage between 1927 and 1941, while also serving as a Stage Manager or Stage Director, and occasionally appearing in films. On 10 May 1941 he was killed in a London air raid. At the time of his death, he was playing in Cottage to Let at Wyndham’s Theatre.
