Jennie Bleasdale (1919-20)

[Born Lancashire 31 May 1900, died New Bedford, Massachusetts 2 Jan 1976]

After training at the Royal College of Music in Mamchester, lyric soprano Jennie Bleasdale had a short stint with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company. As a member of the chorus, she also performed as Fiametta in The Gondoliers from September 1919 to February 1920, when she left the Company.

She later appeared in London grand opera at Covent Garden as Micaela in Carmen (1921), and at the Lyceum in the title role in Madam Butterfly (1925), as well as on tour with the Beecham and Carl Rose Opera Companies. Miss Bleasdale also enjoyed an extensive concert and radio career.
