THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Edith Bryant (1891-93)

Edith Bryant, whose last name also appears as Briant, was in the Savoy chorus for the initial production of The Nautch Girl (June 1891-January 1892), and filled in for a time in September 1891 as Cheetah. She later performed briefly on tour with D'Oyly Carte's "B" Company from April to December 1893 in the roles of Nance in Haddon Hall and (at various times beginning in July) the Lady Saphir or the Lady Angela in Patience.

She had earlier appeared in London in The Red Hussar, as Daisy, and the curtain-raiser Warranted Burglarproof, as Alice (Lyric Theatre, 1889-90).
