John Carrington (1892-95)

[Born Cottingworth, Yorkshire 1867, died Rampoa, New York 13 Aug 1932]

John Carrington toured with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" from March 1892 to July 1895. A chorister and small part player, he appeared as the First Huntsman in The Vicar of Bray (March 1892-December 1893 and November 1894-July 1895), Nicodemus Knock-Knee in Haddon Hall (December 1892-December 1893), and Escatero in The Chieftain (February-July 1895). He was married briefly to D'Oyly Carte chorister Minnie Keene.

Carrington later appeared in Gilbert & Sullivan in New York with the Castle Square Opera Company. He was Private Willis in Iolanthe and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance in 1898 revivals at the America Theatre.
