THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Ethel Champneys (1882)

Ethel Champneys made her first appearance on the New York Stage as the Duchess in a James C. Duff production of The Little Duke (Booth's Theatre, March-April 1879).

She was a chorister in Claude Duval with D'Oyly Carte and E. E. Rice's Company at New York's Standard Theatre in March and April 1882, and was probably in the chorus of Patience as well, for at least a portion of its 1881-82 run at the Standard as well.
