Muriel Chester (nee Kate Augusta Collings) had two known engagements with the D'Oyly Carte organization. In her first, she toured in the part of Aloes in The Lucky Star with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" from February to September 1899. She was later engaged as principal soubrette for the Carte company that toured South Africa from April 1902 to May 1903, appearing as Constance Partlett in The Sorcerer, Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore, Edith in The Pirates of Penzance, the Lady Angela in Patience, Iolanthe in Iolanthe, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, Phoebe Meryll in The Yeomen of the Guard, Tessa in The Gondoliers, Princess Kalyba in Utopia Limited, and "Heart's Desire" in The Rose of Persia for the duration of the tour.
