Robert William Crowe appeared in opera in South Africa before returning to his native England, where he appeared in the chorus of the 1978 Festival of London production of The Yeomen of the Guard directed by Anthony Besch. In January 1979 he joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus, serving with the D'Oyly Carte until July 1981.During his tenure with the Company, he appeared on occasion as First Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard, Francesco in The Gondoliers, and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance. He was married to fellow D'Oyly Carte chorister Janet Henderson.Crowe later appeared with Scottish Opera.
