THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Ernest Dale as Mr. Bunthorne's Solicitor in Patience

Ernest Dale (1937-45, 1949-51)

[Died 8 Jun 1952]

Ernest Dale was never a singer, though he appeared in D'Oyly Carte programs from August 1937 to August 1945, and again from August 1949 to August 1951, as Mr. Bunthorne's Solicitor in Patience. He also appeared with the Company in the equally silent role of the Associate in Trial by Jury during the 1940-41 and 1943-44 seasons.

His first appearance in a professional London theatre program came in December 1933, when he was mentioned as one of the scenery builders for Alice and Thomas and Jane, a "play for children and their parents" at the Westminster Theatre.
