THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Frank Danby

Frank Danby (1894)

[Born c.1864, died 13 May 1912]

Frank Danby appeared as Phantis with the D'Oyly Carte's American Utopia Limited Company in New York and Boston from March until June 1894. Later that year (September-December) he was King Paramount in the same opera with Carte's Opera Company "A" on tour in England and Scotland. When the Company was disbanded in December, Danby's association with the D'Oyly Carte appears to have ended.

Danby later toured South Africa in the musical comedy Floradora (1899), and was Gibson Gallivant in Sheffield (and later toured) in the original production of a musical comedy Where's Uncle? (1904), a production he also managed. He eventually appeared in London as the Usher in the drama Idols (Garrick, 1908-09).
