Cissy Durant (1875)

[Born London 1852, died London 14 Aug 1878]

Cissy Durant, born Caroline Cicely McDavitt, was among the chorus of bridesmaids for Trial by Jury at the Royalty and Opera Comique (March 1875 to May 1876). It was her only appearance under D'Oyly Carte auspices. She toured with Selina Dolaro in La Perichole and Trial as well, briefly taking the part of First Bridesmaid in the latter.

Miss Durant then toured America and Australia in 1877 with the Emily Soldene's Opera Bouffe Company, playing a repertoire of ten operas that included Trial by Jury. She eloped from Miss Soldene's Company before they departed for New Zealand, remaining in Sydney to perform in pantomime.
