THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Frederick Fitzpatrick (1887-88)

[Born Cavan, Ireland 24 Feb 1855, died Ruthin Castle, Denbighshire 24 Mar 1928]

Frederick Thomas Edwin Fitzpatrick was a chorister with D'Oyly Carte's Company "C," the first provincial Ruddigore company from March to November 1887. He was married to the Company's principal soprano, Margaret Cockburn, who played Rose Maybud.

Fitzpatrick and his wife were also with Carte's "B" Company in April 1888. It's unclear whether he toured Germany and Austria with her between November 1887 and February 1888.

Later in life, Captain Fitzpatrick, as he was known, was an artist of some repute, specializing in equestrian paintings.
