THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY
Edward Gamage (1932-37)
Tenor Edward Gamage sang with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus from August 1932 to June 1937. While with the Company he appeared once as Prince Hilarion in Princess Ida (November 1933) and twice as the Defendant in Trial by Jury (March 1937). During the Company's 1937 tour of America, Gamage was engaged by the National Broadcasting Company to sing regularly from their Boston studio. He left the D'Oyly Carte and returned to the United States to pursue his new career that summer.
