Mercia Glossop (1966-68)

Mercia Maud Glossop made her first appearance on the London Stage as the last of three Lady Boxingtons in Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady (Drury Lane, 1958-63).

She was a contralto chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company for the two seasons spanning August 1966 and July 1968, and may be seen in the chorus of the 1966 D'Oyly Carte film version in The Mikado. Miss Glossop was later in the cast of the original London production of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (Drury Lane, 1980), and played Frau Schmidt in the 1981-82 London revival of Rogers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
