Frances Gregory

Frances Gregory (1968-71)

[Born Harrow, Middlesex 1945]

Frances Gregory was born in Harrow, raised in Taunton, and trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in September 1968, and during her first season went on occasionally for Anne Sessions as the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury and Fiametta in The Gondoliers.

When Miss Sessions left at the end of the season (August 1969), Miss Gregory took Fiametta as her own. She also filled in on occasion during the 1969-70 season as the Plaintiff, Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Celia in Iolanthe, and Kate in The Yeomen of the Guard. She added Isabel to her regular duties in August 1970, playing that part, as well as Fiametta, until she left the D'Oyly Carte organization in August 1971. She also filled in on occasion during her last season for Linda Anne Hutchison as Gianetta in The Gondoliers.
