Glenys Groves (1968-70)

[Born 26 Jul 1949]

Glenys Groves was a soprano chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from September 1968 to August 1970. She left the D'Oyly Carte to join the cast of The Great Waltz at Drury Lane. Her long and varied career, involving West End musicals, concerts, theatre, radio and recordings, was highlighted by her work as backup singer to Kate Bush on the latter's only tour ("The Tour of Life," 1979), and a 25-year association with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden. All is covered in her amusing memoir "Ballads, Songs, and Snatches" (self-published, 2016).
