THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Ernest Hire (1925-26)

[Born Blyth, Northumberland 19 Apr 1902, died Morecambe, Lancashire 27 Sep 1964]

After two weeks with the D'Oyly Carte "New" Opera Company, tenor chorister Ernest Redmond Hire joined the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company, serving from July 1925 to November 1926.

He later appeared in London in the revue The House that Jack Built (Adelphi and Winter Garden, 1929-30), the musical comedy Follow a Star (Winter Garden, 1930-31), and the musical drama The Immortal Hour (Queen's, 1932).
