Robert Ives was a chorister on tour in H.M.S. Pinafore with the Comedy Opera Company's "B" Company in June 1879.That month he, fellow choristers Florence Hyde and Annie Walsh, and baritone John Le Hay were involved in a boating accident on the River Avon. Both Miss Hyde and Mr. Ives were drowned.
