Annie James toured as chorister with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "C" Company in the spring of 1881. She was married to D'Oyly Carte baritone Albert James and probably toured with him in Carte's "Patience" No. 1 Company in 1882.Her only named part came the following year, when she took a small role, Mrs. Bowcher in the companion piece Mock Turtles, during the 1883 tour of Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "Patience" No. 2 Company.
