Emmie Jowett (1899-1900)

[Born Lancaster 22 Aug 1874, died Langley, British Columbia, Canada 15 Jan 1950]

Emily Maude Louise Jowett was a chorister and understudy to mezzo-soprano Emmie Owen with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company at the Savoy during the initial production of The Rose of Persia (November 1899-June 1900), and perhaps other productions. An accomplished pianist, she is reported to have served the company as rehearsal pianist as well.

She emigrated to Canada in 1910, raised three children there and taught music for a number of years in Morse, Saskatachewan.
