D'Arcy Kelway as Peppin in The Beauty Stone

D'Arcy Kelway (1898)

[Born Portsmouth 21 Jan 1879, died Carlton, Australia 7 Sep 1940]

D'Arcy George Vincent Kelway created the part of Peppin, a dwarf, in The Beauty Stone at the Savoy. The Beauty Stone was performed from May 28 to July 16, 1898, a run of only 50 performances. It appears to have been his only engagement with the D'Oyly Carte organization.

Kelway's only other appearance in London was as Jerry Holmes in a drama called The Bad Girl of the Family (Aldwych, December 1909-October 1910). In 1911 he emigrated to Australia where he enjoyed a career as a popular vaudeville and radio comedian.
