[Born London 19 Feb 1862, died Los Angeles 21 Jun 1937]

John William Lince Jr. was the third of three performers to play the small role of Giorgio with D'Oyly Carte's New York Gondoliers Company. He succeeded Albert Kavanagh in March 1890 and appeared until the run ended at Palmer's Theatre the following month.

Lince was no longer with the Company when it returned to the British Isles later that year. He remained in New York where he took two small named parts (Hans and Don Abbotoire) in the comic opera burlesque Hendrick Hudson (Fourteenth Street Theatre, August 1890; Park Theatre, October-November 1890). Lince later lived in Chicago before moving to California where he worked in the film industry.
