Laureen Livingstone as Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard

Laureen Livingstone (1982)

Laureen Livingstone made a guest appearance with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as Elsie Maynard in The Yeomen of the Guard at the Adelphi Theatre in January 1982. It was her only engagement with the Company.

It was not, however, her first professional experience in Gilbert & Sullivan. She appeared on BBC television in 1972 as Gianetta in The Gondoliers, and in 1975 as Kate in The Yeomen of the Guard, but she is probably best remembered for her portrayal of Elsie Maynard in the 1978 City of London Festival production of Yeomen, opposite Tommy Steele.

Laureen Livingstone may also be heard as Lisa on a 1983 New Sadler's Wells Opera recording of Countess Martiza. She went on to join the vocal faculty at the Trinity College of Music.
