Alice Lorraine

Alice Lorraine (1887)

[Born 3 Aug c.1863, died Liverpool 6 Aug 1897]

Alice Lorraine (real name Alice Emily Mary Norris) was in the chorus for an early portion of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company's 1887-88 tour of Europe. At the time she was married to fellow singer W. O. Jones, who played Bob Beckett in H.M.S. Pinafore on that tour. It was her only known appearance on stage.

She was a young widow with two children when Jones died of acute pneumonia in February 1890. Miss Lorraine later married another D'Oyly Carter, P. Thompson Flucker, in 1893, but she herself was not in good health and succumbed to tuberculosis in 1897.
