Tenor Adrian Martin received his musical training at the London Opera Centre. He was in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus for the three seasons spanning September 1971 and August 1974. During the 1972-73 season he filled in on occasion as First Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard, taking over the part the next season when Jeffrey Cresswell moved up to Leonard Meryll. Martin also deputized for Cresswell in 1973-74 as Francesco in The Gondoliers.

Martin made his Covent Garden debut in Salome in 1977, and later appeared often with English National Opera and Opera North in such operas as The Pearl Fishers, Fidelio, La Boheme, The Makropolos Case, and Don Pasquale between 1987 and 1990. He also performed in Hamburg, St. Gallen, Paris, and in Australia.
