Soprano chorister Sara Mousley studied for six years at the Royal Academy of Music, joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company upon completion of her studies in September 1976. In addition to her work at the Royal Academy, Miss Mousley had previously appeared on stage with the New Opera Company and with amateur operatic societies.

She left the D'Oyly Carte less than a year later:in July 1977. Miss Mousley later sang with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, and was in the chorus for English National Opera's productions of Patience (1983-84) and The Mikado (1986-87).
