Osborne Oakley (1929-35)

Joseph Osborne Oakley was a tenor chorister with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from July 1929 to June 1935. During the 1930-31 season he filled in for a time as Earl Tolloller in Iolanthe.

After leaving the D'Oyly Carte he appeared with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, in Louise, Der Rosenkavalier, and Les Contes d'Hoffmann (all 1936), then played a policeman in the musical Hide and Seek (London Hippodrome, 1937-38), and returned to Covent Garden in Der Rosenkavalier in May 1938.
