Freda Pettitt

Freda Pettitt (1923-24)

Soprano Freda Muriel Pettitt made her first appearance in London as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro at the Old Vic, giving four performances between October and December 1921. She later gave three performances at the same venue as one of the three genii in Mozart's The Magic Flute (January-February 1922).

She then spent one year with the D'Oyly Carte Repertory Opera Company. Between July 1923 and July 1924 she appeared as the Lady Ella in Patience and Kate in The Yeomen of the Guard (sharing both parts that season with Elsie Griffin and Helene François). She also filled in on occasion as Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance.

Miss Pettitt appeared on several occasions in London musicals between November 1925 (Betty in Mayfair, Adelphi) and September 1939 (The Dancing Years, Drury Lane).
