Antony Powell-Bristow joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in August 1949, serving in that capacity for two full seasons ending in August 1951. That month he married D'Oyly Carte soprano Joyce Hill and left the Company.

Upon leaving the Company, Powell-Bristow appeared for two-and-a-half years in South Pacific at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. They eventually moved south where they were involved with producing for amateur operatic societies, while continuing to appear themselves in their duet act. They eventually opened a Fancy Dress Costumiers business which they operated until 1992.

Antony Bristow, as he was later known, lived in Brighton. From the 1980s he worked as a professional toastmaster.
