THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Constance Snow as the Lady Saphir in Patience

Constance Snow (1880-82)

[Born Warwickshire 30 Oct 1848]

Originally a concert artist, Constance Snow (nee Jones) was known as Constance Arnott when she took her first role, Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, with Mr. D'Oyly Carte's "D" (later "E") Company in December 1880. In 1881 she adopted Snow as her stage name. In December 1881 the Company took up Patience exclusively, as Mr. D'Oyly Carte's No. 2 "Patience" Company, with Miss Snow as the Lady Saphir. She left the role and, it appears, the Carte organization, in October 1882.
