THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Peter Sugden (1962-63)

Peter Sugden made what may have been his London Stage debut as one of the Bill Shepherd Singers in the pantomime Aladdin (Coliseum, December 1959-January 1960).

He joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a baritone chorister in May 1962, and when Trial by Jury was restored to the repertoire in November of that year, took on the part of Foreman of the Jury. He also played Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance during Alan Styler's absence (January-April 1963). When the season ended in August 1963, Sugden left the D'Oyly Carte.
