THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Antonio Tomasi (m.d., 1882-83)

Signor Antonio Tomasi was musical director for D'Oyly Carte's Second American Iolanthe Company at the Lyceum Theatre, Philadelphia, for six weeks beginning December 5, 1882. It was his only engagement with a D'Oyly Carte Company.

Signor Tomasi later conducted Paul Jones and Captain Therèse in New York and on tour with Agnes Huntington's Opera Company in 1892. His last appearance in New York musical theatre may have been in 1895 when he was musical director for a revival of Smith & DeKoven's Rob Roy at the Herald Square.
