THE D'OYLY CARTE OPERA COMPANY

Henry Wigley (1887-88, 1892-95)

[Born Worcester 7 May 1843, died Brighton 22 Jan 1935]

Henry Wigley toured the European continent as a chorister with D'Oyly Carte's second Continental Company (November 1887-April 1888). He toured the British Isles with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "D" between March 1892 and December 1895, appearing throughout those years as Peter Piper in The Vicar of Bray. He was presumably a chorister in the other operas presented.

A Mr. Wigley, possibly Henry, was in the musical comedy Monte Carlo, presented at London's Avenue Theatre, August-November 1896.

Henry Wigley's daughter, Sarah (known as Sadie), toured with D'Oyly Carte Opera Company "B" in 1891-93.
